Difference Between Moisture vs. Protein Needs | Cache' Salon Hanford

Keune x Caché Salon collaboration logo — representing a partnership focused on professional, luxury haircare and education.

Overview

Clients often confuse dryness with damage. This training helps stylists confidently explain the difference and recommend the right balance.

Chairside Language

·         “Moisture gives softness; protein gives strength. Both are essential, but in different amounts.”

·         “In winter, hair usually needs more hydration.”

·         “Between salon visits, Vital Nutrition restores softness while we adjust protein as needed.”

Roleplay 1

Client: “My hair feels so dry this season.” Stylist: “That’s common in winter. Let’s add Keune Vital Nutrition for hydration. If we see signs of breakage, I’ll pair it with a protein treatment for balance.”

Roleplay 2

Client: “How do I know if I need protein or moisture?” Stylist: “If your hair feels brittle and breaks, it needs protein. If it feels rough or frizzy, it needs moisture. Vital Nutrition delivers hydration while I guide you on protein when needed.”

Stylist Takeaway

Stylists should position themselves as the “translator” between what hair feels like and what it needs. Clients appreciate clear, simple guidance.

Quick Reference Guide - Dry, rough hair → Moisture (Vital Nutrition). - Brittle, breaking hair → Protein. - Balance is key → Not too much of one or the other. - Always relate advice to how hair feels. - Emphasize “between salon visits” to build care consistency.
